DEPARTMENT 4 – YOUTH BEEF

Weigh in: December 13, 2025, 9:00-11:00 a.m.
Fair Check in: First Sunday of fair – 12 pm to 1 pm
1. Exhibitors may tag two (2) market animals. Exhibitors may exhibit one (f ) market beef.
2. Market animals of beef breed will compete in beef classes. Market animals of dairy breed will
compete in dairy beef breed classes.
3. All beef cattle are required to have an official (RFID) ear tag at weigh in and before entering the
fairgrounds.
4. Any animal arriving at the fair without a scannable tag will be turned away.
5. Your exhibits tag # will be the last five (5) digits of your official 840 tag number.
5. All steers must be castrated at December weigh in.
7. All animals must be tied with a halter and neck rope.
8. Home grown animals must be born and raised on the exhibitor's property and be indicated as so
on your on-line entry form.
9. All cattle must be dehorned if the horn length is greater than two inches.
10. Market beef must weigh no less than 900 pounds to show and compete in market class.
Animals that do not make weight may compete in showmanship and open class only.
11. Dairy Beef must weigh no less than 1100 pounds to show and compete in market class. Animals
that do not make weight may compete in showmanship and open class only.
12., Exhibition of bulls is limited to nothing older than and a Senior Bull Calf.
13. Beef Showmanship ages:
Senior 16-19 years of age
Intermediate 13 - 15 years of age
Junior 10 - 12 years of age
Beginner 6 - 9 years of age
Developmentally Disabled
14. Seniors and Juniors will compete separately for Overall Senior Champion and an Overall Junior
Champion.
15. Classes may be combined or divided at the superintendent's discretion.
