​DEPARTMENT 4 – YOUTH BEEF
NATE SHEA – SUPERINTENDENT
Weigh in: To be determined (must be on fee at least 90 days prior to fair)                                                      Fair check in: Sunday, July 23, 2023 12pm-1pm
  1. Exhibitors may tag two (2) beef animals. Exhibitors may exhibit only one(1) market beef.
  2. Market animals of breed will compete in beef classes. Market animals of the dairy breeds will compete in dairy beef breed classes.
  3. All beef cattle are required to have an official (RIFD) ear tag at the December weigh in and before entering the fairgrounds.
  4. All steers must be castrated at December weigh in..
  5. All animals must be tied with a halter and neck rope.
  6. Home grown animals must be born and raised on the exhibitor’s property.
  7. Market beef must weigh no less than 900 pounds to show and compete in market class. Animals that do not make weight may compete in showmanship and open class only.
  8. Dairy beef must weigh no less than 1100 pounds to show and compete in market class. Animals that do not make weight may compete in showmanship and open class only.
  9. Exhibition of male animals is limited to nothing older than a Senior Bull Calf.
  10. Produce of Dam is 2 or more daughters of different ages.
  11. .          Seniors and Juniors will compete separately for an overall Senior Champion and an Overall Junior Champion.
  12. Classes may be combined or divided at the superintendent’s discretion.

BEEF FEEDING RECORD KEEPING
Livestock records is mandatory for all youth showing at the Clare County Fair. Record books are turned into the Clare County Fair Office on Sunday of fair by 8pm.
