DEPARTMENT 6 – YOUTH SHEEP

Weigh in: April 24, 2026 5:00-7:00pm 
Fair Check in: First Sunday of fair - 1pm-2pm

1. Exhibitors may tag up to five (5) lambs. They may select two (2) from the five (5) as the pen
exhibit, single exhibit must be from the remaining three (3).
2. You must indicate when you sign up on-line which on is the single exhibit and which two are the
pen. Pick the appropriate class.
3. Rams must be castrated at spring weigh-in.
4. Sheep must have a USDA scrapie tag prior to weigh-in and entry to the fairgrounds.
5. Sheep may not exceed 105 pounds at spring weigh in.
6. Sheep must be shorn before fair weigh-in.
7. Sheep must weigh no less than 80 pounds to show and compete in market class. Animals that do
not make weight may compete in showmanship and open class only.
8. Home grown animals must be born and raised on the exhibitor's property and be indicated as so
on your on-line entry form.
9. Extreme tail docking is prohibited. A minimum tail length of .5 inches at fair check-in is required.
10. Sheep Showmanship ages:
     Senior 16 - 18 years of age
     Intermediate 13 - 15 years of age
     Senior Junior 12 years of age i
     Junior 10 - 11 years of age
     Pre-Junior 8 - 9 years of age
     Beginner 5 - 7 years of age
     Developmentally Disabled
11. Seniors and Juniors will compete separately for Overall Senior Champion and an Overall Junior
       Champion.
12. Classes may be combined or divided at the superintendent's discretion.

Livestock record books are mandatory for all youth selling at the Clare Co Fair.  Books need to be into the Clare Co Fair office by 8pm, Sunday of fair.
