DAIRY FEEDER STEER
MICHELLE NEFF - SUPERINTENDENT ASHLEY EBERHART—ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

Weigh in:  April 25, 2025, 5:00 – 7:00 pm (must be on feed at least 87 days prior to fair)
Fair Check in:  First Sunday of fair – 12 pm to 1 pm 
Dairy Feeders are released at 8:00 p.m. the closing Saturday of the fair.
  1. Exhibitors may tag three (3) dairy feeder steers.  Exhibitors may exhibit only one (1) dairy feeder steer.  
  2. By spring weigh- in, dairy feeder steers are to be de-horned and castrated.
  3. All dairy feeders are required to have an official (RFID) ear tag at weigh- in and before entering the fairgrounds. 
  4. Any animal arriving at the fair without a scannable tag will be turned away.
  5. Your exhibits tag # will be the last 5 digits of your official 840 tag number.
  6. All animals must be tied with a halter and nek rope.
  7. Home grown animals must be born and raised on the exhibitor's property and indicated as so on your entry form.
  8. Dairy feeders must weigh no ore than 275 pounds at spring weigh in.
  9. Exhibitors 12 years of age and under by January 1st of the current  year will be eligible to enter one (1) dairy feeder steer in the large animal auction.
    10. Dairy (ie. Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Jersey, Ayrshire or Milking Shorthorn)
    11. Dairy Feeder Showmanship ages.                   
                     Senior 16 - 19 years of age
                     Intermediate 13 – 15 years of age
                     Senior Junior 12 years of age
                     Junior 10 – 11 years of age
                     Pre-Junior 8 – 9 years of age
                     Beginner 6-7 years of age
                     Developmentally Disabled
    12. Seniors and Juniors will compete separately for Overall Senior Champion and an Overall  Junior 
           Champion.
   13.  Classes may be combined or divided at the superintendent's discretion.

Enter all dairy feeders in class WWW they will be placed in the proper class after weigh-in.

DAIRY FEEDER RECORD KEEPING
Livestock record books are mandatory for all youth selling at the Clare Co Fair.  Books need to be  into the Clare Co Fair office by 8pm, Sunday of fair.
